Srinagar, April 05: Shabnum Jan, a prominent member of the All India Mahila Congress, has called for a more responsible approach to product promotion by YouTube influencers, emphasizing the need for accurate information to safeguard consumers in today’s digital landscape.

 

In an era where social media significantly influences consumer behavior, Jan highlighted the transformative impact of platforms like YouTube on business promotion. While acknowledging the effectiveness of influencer marketing, she stressed the importance of credibility and responsibility among content creators. “Promoting products through social media is not inherently problematic, but it is essential that influencers provide truthful and accurate information about the items they endorse,” Jan stated.

 

To address this issue Jan proposed that the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the district administration implement a regulatory policy. This policy would establish clear guidelines and limits for influencer promotions, ensuring that consumers are protected from misleading claims.

 

“By setting these standards, we can create a safer environment for consumers and foster trust in the influencer marketing space,” Jan added. “It is crucial that we hold influencers accountable for the information they share, as their reach and impact on public perception are significant.”

 

Jan’s call to action aims to initiate a dialogue among Traders, policymakers, influencers, and consumers to create a more transparent and responsible promotional landscape.
