ARVIND KEJRIWAL BACK TO JAIL
If we talk about the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal and the context of its whole case, so the very first thing which comes to the mind is that, this is the first instance of a chief minister in India being put behind bars while still in charge.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested in the money laundering case related to Liquor Scam by ED (Enforcement Directorate) on 21st March, 2024. Before this ED provided 9 summons prior to his arrest which was being ignored by Arvind kejriwal.
He was granted the interim bail by Supreme Court on 10th May, 2024 to 1st June, 2024, to campaign for 2024 Indian General Elections, and has to surrender on 2nd June, 2024 at Tihar Jail after the end of his interim bail. The arrest caused numerous protests of Aam Adami Party’s (AAP) supporters against Central Government.
Also the Delhi Cabinet Minister Raaj Kumar Anand resigned as minister of social welfare and as well as resignation from Aam Adami Party.He said that he did not want to be associated with the ‘Corruption’ after the rejection of Delhi’s High Court on the bail of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
